Resolution 3998 RESOLUTION NO. 3998 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO DEDICATE A STRIP OF LAND ALONG THE NORTHERLY SIDE OF THE BISCAYNE BAY COAST GUARD HOUSE OF REFUGE RESERVATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF WIDENING 73RD STREET WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is growing at a very rapid pace, and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has now embarked upon a large paving and street widening program, which program in part includes the paving to a forty-nine (49) foot width, Collins Avenue from Forty... fourth (44) Street to the north city limits, and the paving to a thirty (30) foot width of a strip through said Coast Guard Property connecting Abbott and Harding Avenues, and WHEREAS, Seventy-third (73 ) Street is of insufficient width to meet the immediate needs of said City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the United States Government be, and they are hereby requested to dedicate to the City of Miami Beach a strip of land off the northerly side of Biscayne Bay Coast Guard House of Refuge Reservation for street purposes, said strip being described as follows: All that tract or parcel of land situated in the City of Miami Beach, County of Dade and State ofFlorida , and described as follows: Beginning at a point in the northerly line of Lot S, Section 2, Township 53 South, Range 42 East, Tallahassee Meridian, Wloriiia, as established by a survey made by Albert Smith, Jr. , U. S. Cadastral Engineer, from May 14, to May 26, 1921, inclusive, on file in the General Land Office, Department of the Interior, Washington, D. C. ( said line being parallel to and distant five hundred (500) feet north- wardly from the southerly line of original Government Lot 6, in said Section, etc. ) , said point ofbeginning being located three hundred fourteen and thirty-one one-hundredths (3114..31) feet westwardly from W. C. A . P. 2 U. S. C. G. L. S. S.; thence from said point of beginning along said northerly line of Lot 8 South eighty-seven degrees twenty- four minutes West (S 87°214-1W) (1921 survey) a di stelnee of approximately one thousand six hundred fifty-five and seventy-nine one-hundredths (1,655.79) feet to A. P. 3 U. S. C. G. L. S. S. , on the meander line (1921 survey) of Indian Creek; thence along said meander line South thirty-nine degrees forty minutes East (39° 40$ E) (1921 survey) a distance of approximately thirty-four and twenty-six one- hundredths (34.26) feet to another point in said meander line; thence North eighty- seven degrees seventeen minutes East (N 87° 171 E) a distance of approxi- mately one thousand six hundred twenty-eight and sixteen one-hundredths (1,628.161 feet to a point; thence North two degrees forty-three minutes West (N 2 431 W) a distance of approximately twenty-four and two one- hundredths (24.02) feet to the point or place of beginning, being a por- tion of the Biscayne Bay Coast Guard House of Refuge Reservation in Lot g, a part of original Government Lot 6, Section 2, etc. , reserved for Coast Guard purposes by Proclamation No. 1589, dated March 11, 1921, of the President of the United States of America.
