MIAMI BEACH CHAMBER TO HONOR GOLDMAN
Tony Goldman, chairman and CEO of Goldman Properties Inc. , is the recipient
of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce's first annual Travel and Tourism Hall
of Fame Award.
Goldman will be honored during the chamber's annual Travel and Tourism
Luncheon today at noon, featuring a keynote address by Miami International
Airport director Angela Gittens, at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort.
The Travel and Tourism Hall of Fame was created by the chamber's board of
governors to honor the leaders of Miami Beach's hospitality industry for their
efforts in establishing Miami Beach as a tourist and cultural destination.
Goldman founded Goldman Properties Inc. in 1968 and led the company in
restoring, improving and re-inventing six historic neighborhoods on the East
Coast. For more than 30 years, he has been a driving force behind the
transformations of South Beach in Miami; the Upper West Side, the Wall Street
Financial District and Soho in New York City; and now Center City in
Philadelphia.
Under Goldman's leadership, Goldman Properties Inc. seeks to elevate the
quality of life in poor urban areas by restoring historic architecture and
adopting it for profitable commercial use. Goldman Properties Inc. develops,
operates and owns restaurants and hotels in the areas it rejuvenates.
Goldman's professional associations include serving as founder and chairman
of the Ocean Drive Association and as a member of the Miami Beach Chamber of
Commerce and the National Board of Trustees of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation. At the end of this year, he will become chairman of the Greater
Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is also on the board of the Historic
Hotels of America and the Downtown Alliance and is a trustee for the Lower
East Side Tenement Museum in New York City.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. For more information,
