A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF MIAMI BEACH
BAY SHORE COMPANY TO SELL TO THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FIVE ACRES OF
GROUND OUT OF THE SOUTHERN END OF
THE POLO FIELDS.
WHEREAS, on the 4th day of April , 1939, there was submitted
to the City Council of said City, the following proposal :

Gentlemen:
In the matter of a recreation center for Miami Beach it is a plea-
sure to cooperate with you to the effect that we offer you five
acres of ground out of the southern end of the Polo Fields , bounded
on the west by Michigan Avenue, on the south by 42nd Street and on
the east by Meridian Avenue, extending north for a distance to con-
tain approximately five acres according to survey by engineers for
the City of Miami Beach as follows:
Beginning at a point which is the intersection of
the northerly line of West Forty-second (42nd) Street
and the westerly line of North Meridian Avenue; thence
westerly along said northerly line of West Forty-second
(42nd) Street for a distance of seven hundred (700) feet ,
more or less, to a point which is on the easterly line
of North Michigan Avenue ; thence northerly along said
easterly line of North Michigan Avenue for a distance of
four hundred ninety-one and four-tenths (491.4) feet, more
or less, to a point which is on the southerly line of West
Forty-third (43rd) Street produced easterly; thence easter-
ly along said southerly line of West Forty-third (43rd) Street
produced easterly for a distance of seven hundred fifty- two
and nine-tenths (752.9) feet, more or less, to a point on
said westerly line of North Meridian Avenue ; thence southerly
along said westerly line of North Meridian Avenue for a dis-
tance of one hundred forty-seven and fifty-seven one hundredths
(147.57) feet , more or less, to the point of beginning, as
said North Meridian Avenue is shown on Nautilus Addition, re-
corded in Plat Book Eight (8) , Page One Hundred Thirty (130)
and as said West Forty-second (42nd) Street is shown on the
Forty-first (41st) Street Business Subdivision, recorded in
Plat Book Thirty-four (34) , at Page Ninety-two (92) , and as
said North Michigan Avenue and West Forty-third (43rd) Street
are shown on Nautilus Extension Third, recorded in Plat Book
Thirty-four (34) , at gage Ninety-eight (98) , all of the Public
Records of Dade County, Florida, and containing five and one
hundred and fourteen thousandths (5.114) acres, more or less,
subject to check of said metes and bounds description by engineers for
Miami Beach Bay Shore Company.
We will sell to the City said tract at $7,000.00 per acre. The
terms of this purchase will be 25% down and the balance in one,
two and three years at 4% interest.
In order to conform with the city requirements, we agree to let
this be accepted within sixty days and it is also understood
that we will pay the commission to the broker who brings in this
contract properly signed and delivered to us in an acceptable
form.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that said proposal be accepted under
the terms and conditions and provisions of Section 26 of the City
Charter of the City of Miami Beach as amended in 1925; that the
Mayor and City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized to execute
such documents as may be necessary to carry this resolution into
effect and that they report their acts and doings relative thereto
to the said City Council.
