The Parks and Recreation Department continues to "spring" into good times for the entire family
with a line-up of events you won't want to miss!
Event: Operation Gratitude
Date: Throughout the Month of May
Miami Beach Parks & Recreation encourages the community to join the city's after-school
participants in writing thank you letters to the brave men and women serving in the military.
Drop off your letters at one of our parks and recreation facilities no later than May 31.
Event: Learn to Swim Registration (Flamingo & Normandy)
Date: Monday, April 30th — Friday, May 4th
Time: 8:30 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
Location: Flamingo Pool (12 Street and Michigan Avenue) & Normandy Isle Pool
(7030 Trouville Esplanade)
Learn to Swim class registration for Series 2 begins April 30th with classes scheduled to begin
on May 5th. Swim prices for Miami Beach residents is $35. Register and pay online by visiting
http://register.communitypass.net/MiamiBeach.
Event: Spring Fling
Date: Friday, May 4th
Time: 6:30 p.m. — 9:30 p.m.
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Join us for the annual parent & child dance. $10 covers the cost of admission for a parent & child;
admission for each additional child is $5. Each child must be accompanied by their
parent/guardian and formal attire is required. Tickets may be purchased at Flamingo Park, Scott
Rakow Youth Center or North Shore Park Youth Center through April 29tH
Event: Under the Lights Doubles Tournament
Date: Friday, May 4th
Time: 7:00 p.m. — 10:00 p.m.
Location: Miami Beach Tennis Center (501 72 Street)
With the recent light renovation to the Miami Beach Tennis Center, the City of Miami Beach and
Miami Beach Tennis Academy invite you to an Open Doubles event "Under the Lights" on Friday
May 4th, 2018. Play doubles with a friend, partner or child at your own level (intermediate 3.0 or
below, or advanced 3.0 and above). $20 refundable deposit due upon registration.

Event: Playtime Graduation
Date: Wednesday, May 16th
Time: 10:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
Location: Colony Theater (1040 Lincoln Road)
The City of Miami Beach Playtime participants will be having a graduation ceremony to celebrate
their accomplishments throughout the 2017-2018 school year. This is our way of saying farewell
and good luck to the children who have been with us and are moving on to Kindergarten. Families
are also invited to this occasion to celebrate and reflect upon the time spent, memories made,
conversations had and all the developments made over the course of this year. During this event
we hold a ceremony where each child wears a cap and gown and receives a graduation certificate.

Time: 8:30 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center Pool (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Learn to Swim class registration for the June, July and August sessions begins May 16th. Swim
prices for Miami Beach resident is $55 (Infant/Toddler, Pre -School, Level 1 and 2) and $60
(Level 3/4 and Teen/Adult). Register and pay online by visiting

Event: Miami Beach Social Club Summer Banquet
Date: Saturday, May 26th
Time: 1:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Location: North Shore Park Youth Center (501 72nd Street)
Our Miami Beach Margaret M. Swett Social Club (for adults with developmental disabilities) will
be having their summer banquet. It is the last event for the Social Club until August. Participants
will come to North Shore Park & Youth Center for a fun time of dancing, good food, and laughs
with their friends.

Date: Saturday, June 9th

The Parks and Recreation Department is extending a special invitation to families who want to
meet their child's summer camp counselor before the first day of camp. Parents are encouraged
to take this opportunity to meet one-on-one with staff and tour the facility.
