A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM GUITAR CENTER, INC., IN
THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $199.00, IN SUPPORT OF THE
CITY'S ANNUAL YOUTH MUSIC FESTIVAL HELD ON MARCH
17, 2018; AND, FURTHER, RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DISIGNEE, TO MAKE SUCH
EXPENDITURES AND /OR REIMBURSEMENTS CONSISTENT
WITH THE AFORESTATED EVENT.
WHEREAS, on March 17, 2018, the City of Miami Beach ("City"), in partnership with The
Rhythm Foundation, hosted its annual Miami Beach Youth Music Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Youth Music Festival included a variety of musical acts;
and
WHEREAS, City staff has worked diligently to identify funding sources to off -set the cost
of producing this event and has secured a donation from Guitar Center, Inc., in the total amount
of $199.00; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the retroactive approval and acceptance of
the donation, in the total amount of $199.00, from the above -named sponsor for the City's
annual Miami Beach Youth Music Festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby retroactively approve and authorize the City of Miami Beach to accept a
donation from Guitar Center, Inc., in the total amount of $199.00, in support of the City's annual
Miami Beach Youth Music Festival held on March 17, 2018; and, further, retroactively
authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to make such expenditures and /or
reimbursements consistent with the aforestated event.

ANALYSIS
On March 17, 2018, the City of Miami Beach ( "City "), in partnership with The Rhythm Foundation,
hosted its annual Miami Beach Youth Music Festival. The Miami Beach Youth Music Festival had a
variety of musical acts performed by youth musicians including: Arrowhead, Dayana Maza, Ex
Presidents, Peach, Play on Words, Ripcord, Unnamed and YMU Jazz Combo. Opening the main
stage was the Nautilus Middle School Jazz Band, and two legacy acts, including FIN!FANG!FOOM!
and Miami Beach Senior High Rock Ensemble. The festival was hosted by iHeart Radio personality
Chris Cruz, and culminated with a performance by the beloved band SpamAllstars.
This year, the festival featured an additional performance area, an Acoustic Garden Stage, where the
following acts played: Alexander Taney, Fienberg Fisher Rock Ensemble, Isabella Velasquez, Lily &
Jake, Lily Poses, Monet and Valentina Koehler Baptista. The Acoustic Garden Stage also hosted
exciting musical walk -in competitions, including a guitar solo, drum solo and air guitar solo. Event was
open to the public.

secured a donation from Guitar Center, Inc., in the total amount of $199.00.
CONCLUSION
The Administration recommends the retroactive approval and acceptance of the donation, in the total
amount of $199.00, from the above -named sponsor for the City's annual Miami Beach Youth Music
Festival held on March 17, 2018; and, further, retroactively authorizing the City Manager, or his
