A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM JARED M. LUSTBADER, IN
THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $500.00, IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH SURF CAMP FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
HELD MARCH 26 -30, 2018; AND, FURTHER, RETROACTIVELY
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DISIGNEE, TO
MAKE SUCH EXPENDITURES AND /OR REIMBURSEMENTS
CONSISTENT WITH THE AFORESTATED EVENT.
WHEREAS, Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM -NSU
CARD) teamed up with the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department to host the 10th annual
spring break surf camp for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) on Sunday, March 25 through
Friday, March 30, 2018; and
WHEREAS, participating children spent the week focusing on swimming skills, basic
oceanography, meteorology, open water surfing and, most importantly, their own abilities; and
WHEREAS, the educational component of camp was held at South Pointe Park, One Washington
Avenue, Miami Beach, and the actual surfing component was held on the beach adjacent to the park; and
WHEREAS, the City secured a donation from Jared M. Lustbader in the total amount of $500 for
the City's surf camp for children with autism; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the retroactive approval and acceptance of a
donation, in the total amount of $500, from the above -named sponsor for the City's surf camp for children
with autism which was held on March 25 -30, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby retroactively
approve and authorize the City Manager to accept a donation from Jared M. Lustbader, in the total
amount of $500, for the City's surf camp for children with autism event held March 26 -30, 2018; and,
further, retroactively authorizing the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, to make such
expenditures or reimbursements consistent with the aforestated event.

ANALYSIS
