Resolution 4841 RESOLUTION NO. 4841 A iSOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALL- ING A SPECIAL ELECTION AT WHICH THERE SHALL BE SUBMITTED FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE FREEHOLDERS THE QUESTION: "SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL BE AUTHORIZED TO LEVY NOT IN EXCESS OF TWO MILLS ON THE DOLLAR FOR PUBLICITY AND ADVERTISING PURPOSES FOR THE YEARS 191+0 AND 1941?" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That a special election is hereby called and directed to be held at the City Hall in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from eight o' clock A. M. , until sundown on the 4th day of June, A. D. , 1910, for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the duly registered and qualified voters of said City who are free- holders therein, the question whether the City Council shall, for the years 1940 and 1941, have the authority to levy for Publicity and Advertising purposes, a maximum of two mills on the dollar of the taxable cash value of all property of said City, both real and ptrsonal, as provided in Section 43 of the City Charter, as amended in 1933 and 1935. SECTION 2: That the City Clerk, who is also supervisor of registra- tion, open the books of said City from ten o ' clock A. M. , until four o ' clock P. N. , each day, Sundays, Holidays and Half- Holidays excepted, from this date until May 11th, 1940, for the pur- pose of registering those persons who are qualited to register for such election. hi. Earl F. Oyer SECTION 3: That J. Eanett, J. P. Caldwelh/a.nd Alma Harman be and they are hereby appointed inspectors and Paul H. Robertson is hereby appointed clerk for the purpose of holding and conducting said election at the time and place aforesaid, which names the City Clerk shall certify to the Mayor. SECTION 1.: That said inspectors and clerk shall certify the result of said election to said City Council within five days after the holding of said election. SECTION 5: That A. M. Wigginton be and he is hereby appointed custodian of the voting machines to be used in this election. SECTION 6: That thirty days notice of said election shall be given by the Mayor of said City by posting the notice herein- after provided for at least thirty days prior to the date of said election in three conspicuous places in said City, to-wit: at the Police Station, at Dade Boulevard Fire Station and at the City ge11, and shall be punished once each week for Cour consecutive weeks next preceding such election in the Miami Beach Times, a newspaper published in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and of general circulation in said City. SECTION 7: That said notice of election shall be in substantially the following form: NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION Notice is hereby given that an Election has _ been called by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and will be held in the City Hall in said City from eight o' clock A. M. until Sundown on the 4th day of June, A. D. , 1940, at which there shall be submitted to the duly registered and qualified voters of said City who are free- holders therein, the following question: " Shall the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, have the authority, for the years 1940 and 1941, to levy for Publicity and Advertis- ing purposes, a maximum of two mills on the dollar of the taxable cash value of all property of said City, both real and personal, as provided in Section 43 of the City Charter, as amended by the Legislature in 1933 and 1935". Inspectors and a Clerk have been appointed to conduct said election at said time and place. The registration books will be open from ten o' clock A. M. , until four o' clock P. M. each day, Sundays, holidays and half-holidays excepted, from this date, until and including May 11th, 1940, for the registration of persons qualified to register for said election. John H. Make a cross ( x) before your choice: (Here shall be inserted the proposition set forth in the election notice provided by this resolution and at the end or immediately after such proposition as set forth, there shall be printed a short line followed by the word "Yes" and a short line follow- ed by the word "No" . ) SCTION 9: That the City Clerk cause to be prepared a sufficient number of ballots for use in and upon the voting machines as prescribed by law, Said Clerk shall also provide sample ballots for instruction of voters and shall furnish same to the election officials so that one may be given to each voter deserving same. SECTION 10: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of April, A.
