Resolution 4900 RESOLUTION NO, 4900 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Dade county, Florida, did on the tr-enty-fourth clay of January, 1940, make application to the Works Progress Administration for a real property valuation. survey in the City of Miami Beach, designated as County Serial No. 13-5-C-374, and WHEREAS, tentative but not final approval has been given to this project by the Works Progress Administration authorities, and WHEREAS, according to articles recently appearing in the news- papers, it is desired to decrease rather than increase those employed on the W. P. A. projects in the State of Florida, and WHEREAS, it now appears because of a national emergency that before this project is undertaken or certainly,before it is completed, the services of many of those now engaged on `.J. P. A. projects will be required in the execution of national defense projects, and WHEREAS, because of this national emergency, it seems advisable for the City to conserve its resources to be used in connection -rith projects that are immediately necessary, and WHEREAS, although the project referred to herein is advisable and necessary, it is not of an emergency nature and can, without sacrifice to the best interests of either the Federal Government or the City of Miami Beach, be deferred until a later date, and WHEREAS, in light of recent developments, it is very probable that the funds proposed to be furnished by the Federal Government may be used more advantageously in the furtherance of the national defense, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Works Progress Administration be requested to defer further action on this project and that the execu- tion of the project be held in abeyance until this national emergency has passed.
