RESOLUTION PROTESTING AGAINST THE
GRANTING OF A PERMIT TO WILLIAM
WALKER CONANT FOR CERTAIN WORK IN
BISCAYNE BAY IN THE VICINITY OF
73RD STREET.
WHEREAS, application has been made to the War Department
by William Walker Conant in care of Thomas H. Horobin, Attorney
in fact, for a permit to perform certain work in a channel in
Biscayne Bay in the vicinity of Seventy—Third ( 73rd) Street in
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, as evidenced by sketches prepared
in December, 1940, and designated Sheet 1 of 3 Sheets, Sheet 2 of
3 Sheets, Sheet 3 of 3 Sheets, and
WHEREAS, the above parties have erected in the vicinity
of the site of the work signs reading as follows: "Private
Channel, No Docking on Either Side" , and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach considers this Water—
way as a Public Channel the same as all other waterways under
government jurisdiction within the city limits of Miami Beach,
and
WHEREAS, a public park borders the channel on the east,
and
WHEREAS, property now belonging to the Coast Guard
borders the channel on the East, which property will eventual—
ly be owned by the City of Miami Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COU:• CIL of
the City of Miami Beach that we, by this Resolution do hereby
protest against the proposed work and pray the War Department
to refrain from issuing a permit to do this proposed work.
