SUBJECT: Historic Preservation Board — Recommendation regarding a pedestrian friendly
promenande between the Miami Beach Botanitcal Garden to all open spaces
adjacent to Drexel Avenue and Lincoln Road.
On March 7, 2018, the Mayor and City Commission referred a discussion item to the Historic
Preservation Board regarding the introduction of a pedestrian friendly promenade linking the
Miami Beach Botanical Garden to all open spaces adjacent to Drexel Avenue and Lincoln Road,
such promenade continuing to and ending at the corner of Drexel Avenue and 16th Street (Item
C4 0).
On May 8, 2018, the Historic Preservation Board discussed the matter and passed a motion
recommending in favor of the introduction of the promenade to the Mayor and City Commission.
Attached is a diagram of the pedestrian path recommended by the Board. The Administration
recommends that the Commission consider the recommendation of the Historic Preservation
Board, and provide appropriate policy direction.
