I sues that you have heard by this time the action
taken by the City Council of Beach in raising taxes in II91
 l3 n' C you !-i- o L made
`d
Coalanies you are iI_ r.r e> t,ec. in. r. Lummus has drood his
thr. eats , and he seems to have v,ith h "1 the entire Council except
myself. _le also has used his influence with the County X; esors
and d `de the same there. Iyou thing feel that he has done , ou and
your a.:cociates an injustice, and while I could not represent you
in the matter, being a member of the Council, I would ru- ..ect that
you have the matter threshed out in the Courts, at least to show
gp °.s. Lummus and. his threats. •
I feel that I should resign from the Council and will
ta'__e this action. I dislike to be co_inected r;ith an administration
that can be handled by one man to carry out his spite and venom.
I am very sorry that I could not be of more asr•istmce
to you in this matter. I at first th_out`ht that :. r. Pancoast, his
son and LL . Brown and myself could defeat the move.
I was never notified by the Council • of the .special .
meeting on the 29th. , inst. , and t:-.at itself looks suspicious
as I had ex re_sed myself as being against such 'nroccedin_g.
• A.-raitin7 ;.our further .advioe in the matter, I <n,r,
Very Tru fours,
