Resolution 5468 RESOLUTION NO. 5469 WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, to procure a municipal hospital at the earliest possible date, and WHEREAS, the efforts to procure the funds for the construc- tion and equipment of such a hospital by issuance and sale of revenue bonds have proved of no avail, and have already caused great delay, and WHEREAS, the City Council fears that it may be impossible to secure material for the construction of a complete new hospital building prior to the end of the War, and WHEREAS, the City Council feels that existing buildings are available which, after remodeling, would be adaptable to use as a hospital, and WHEREAS, it appears to the Council that the slight amount of material which would be required for the alteration of a building already in existence could be obtained, and WHEREAS, the purchase of an existing building and the altera- tion thereof would expedite the procurement of a hospital, and WHEREAS, the Floridian Hotel and other structures have here- tofore been offered for sale to the City, and have been deemed suitable, when altered, for hospital purposes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY •COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT THE City Manager be and he is hereby directed to negotiate for the purchase of the Floridian Hotel property, and/or other suitable existing structures, and report back to the Council on Wednesday, February 11th, 1942, the result of such negotiations .
