Resolution 5607 RESOLUTION NO. 5607 WHEREAS it has come to our attention that the Miami Beach Federal Rationing Board is about to be abolished and its functions taken over by the similar Board in Miami, and WHEREAS by the removal of this Board' s offices from our City, hundreds of the 100,000 or more of persons who will be residents here, will be put to the inconvenience of travelling to the Miami Ration Board office, to say nothing of the thous- ands of additional miles of wear that will be put on tires and automobiles that we are trying to conserve and the thousands of additional gallons of gasoline that will be used, and FURTHERMORE, we observe that Federal rationing will soon be extended to many other foods and articles, thus increasing this said inconvenience, use and wear on the Hart of our citizens and their automobiles, and WHEREAS, we believe that it is the intention of our Nation- al Administration to make this rationing procedure as convenient as possible for all citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that we oppose the contemplated removal of the Miami Bench Rationing Board and offices, and urg- ently request the Honorable J. A. Dixon, District Rationing Board Supervisor, to reconsider the present plan for the discon- •• tinuiof this Board and office, and we do hereby offer to fur- nish to said Board, free of charge, suitable office space and telephone service at some convenient location in Miami Beach if said Board and office can be retained for our City.
