Resolution 5622 R SOLL _'ION NO. 5622 dh.REAS, there has been read to the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a communication dated January 18, 1943, from Colonel J. S. Bragdon, United States Corps of i'ngineers, to which communication there is attached a proposed contract by the terms of which water would be furnished by the City of Miami Beach to the United States War Department at the rate of 23.75¢ per thou- sand gallons for the first 40,000,000 gallons per month and 15¢ per thousand gallons per month in excess thereof; and 4hEREAS, the operation of the 4a.ter Department by the City of Miami Beach now produces a low return on the amount invested; and WHERi:;AS, the entering into the proposed contract for the de- livery of water at 15/ per thousand gallons would produce an actual loss to the City; and villa dit;AS, the existing ordinance of the City of Miami Beach provides that 5discount will be deducted from all water bills if paid within ten days from the date of the bill; and 9.t is impossible for the War Department or for any governmental agency to make payment of water bills within said time limit; and ..rEt6_.A6, the City Council is desirous of affording relief to the War Department in the premises, :T0 , ThEKEt..0:KE, BE IT RESOLV.6D by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that said proposal for a reduction in rates be rejected. I3E IT IURTH R RESOLVED that the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to prepare an amendment to the exiting ordinance by the terms of which said amendment the War Department and other Federal Government Agencies will be allowed a 5 discount on all water bills if paidwithin forty-five (45) days from the date of the bill, saidamending ordinance to become effective as of February 1st, 1943. z'ASSL) and ADO/1ii1J this 3rd. day of i0'ebruary, A.
