• ari:k+:hnAS, on the 4th day of November , A. D. 1942, the City
Council of the City of Pdiami Beach, Florida, passed and adopted
a Resolution appropriating funds for a portion of the costs of
alterations and additions to a building at No. 1 Biscayne Street,
Miami Beach, Florida, known as Project Fi'1a. 8-249, authorizing
the City Manager to submit the Plans and specifications therefor
to August Geiger, 1rchitect, andauthorizing the City Clerk to
advertise for sealed bids for said alterations and additions, the
saidbuilding to be leased to The Recreation Pier Association of
Miami Beach, Inc. , for the period of the national emer<;ency and
thereafter to be used by said City for municipal purposes; and
Y3, thereafter on or about the 29th day of ,arch, A. J.
1943, the City Clerk caused an ad.verpisement calling, for sealed
bids for furnishing of furniture, draperies and equipment in connec-
tion with said alterations and additions in accordance with said
plans and specifications to be published in Miami Daily News , a
newspaper of general circulation printed and Published in Dade
County, Florida, on the following dates, March 29th and April 5th,
1943, as more fully appears from the Proof of Publication attached
hereto and made a part hereof; and

sealed bids were received by said City on the 12th day of April,
1943, and among said sealed bids was a bid from 'The i",axweil Company,
Inc. , a Florida Corporation having its office and principal place
of business in the 'Jity of r, iami, Florida, whereby said Comoany
offered to furnish items called for in "Group I - Furnishing of
Furniture" and. "Group IT - yurnishing of Draperies" in accordance
with the plans and specifications for the sum of ;;3, 116.70, which
saidbid was the lowest bid received; and

fore approved the plans and specifications, have checked and tabu-
lated said bids and have reported to the City Council that said bid.

contract be made to The Maxwell Company, Inc. , in the amount of

Section 1. That The Maxwell Company, Inc. , is hereby declared
to be the lowest and best bidder for the furnishing of the furniture
and draperies for the recreation building for service men at No. 1
Biscayne Street, Miami Beach, H'lorida, saidproject being known as
F. ►g. A. Fla. 8-249, according to the plans and specifications here-
tofore approved by the City vanag;er and by Architect August deiger.
Section 2. That Val C. Cleary and C. V. Tomlinson, respectively,
as Mayor and Clerk of said City be and they are hereby severally autho-
rized for and on behalf of the said City to enter into a contract
with said The Maxwell Company, Inc. , for furnishing of furniture and

provided, however, that before said contract shall be delivered, or
work commenced on said project, said award shall first be apiDroved
