t'lAMn '.AS, on the 4th day of November, A. D. 1942, the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, passed and adopted
a Resolution appropriating funds for a portion of the costs of
alterations and additions to a building at No. 1 Biscayne utreet,
Miami Beach, Florida, known as rroject Fla. 8-249, authorizing
the City Manager to submit the plans andspecifications therefor
to August Geiger, architect, and authorizing the City Clerk to
advertise for sealed bids for said alterations and additions,
the said building to be leased to The Recreation vier Association
of Miami Beach, Inc. , for the period of the national emergency
and thereafter to be used by said City for municipal purposes;
and
WHEREAS, thereafter on or about the 29th day of larch, A. D.
1943, the City Clerk caused an advertisement calling for sealed
bids for furnishino of electrical equipment in connection with
said alterations and additions in accordance with said plans and
specifications to be published in Miami Daily News, a newspaper
of general circulation printed and published in Dade County, L'lo-
rida, on the following dates, March 29th and April 5th, 1943, as
more fully appears from the rroof of Publication attached hereto
and made a part Hereof; and
y11z__u1,S, pursuant to said published advertisement for bids,
sealed bids were received by said City on the 12th day of April,
1943, and among; said sealed bids was a bid from Kirby-Tuttle Co.
Incorporated, a Florida Corporation having its office and principal
place of—business in the dity of miami, Florida, whereby said Com-
pany offered to furnish items called for in''Group TTI, ='urnishin
of Electrical Equipment" in accordance with the plans and specifi-
cations for the sum of ,,;;929.99, based on the following :
1 Frigidaire as per base bid ;475.00
1 Electric Range as per alternate 127.24
1 Kelvinator Bottle Cooler as
per base bid 192.75
1 Gen. Electric Bottle Cooler as
per alternate135.00
which said bid was the lowest bid received; and
ofiERAS, the City kianager and said. Architect, nerving hereto-
fore approved the plans and specifications, nave checked and tabu-
lated said bids and have reported to the City Council that said
bid of Kirby-Tuttle Co. Incorporated is in strict conformity with
the plans and specifications and with the bidding formalities and
the said City Manager has accordingly recommended that the award
of the contract be made to Kirby-Tuttle Co. Incorporated, in the
amount of p929.99.
NOW, TiIEREFOR , BE IT R ;SOLVrD by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida,
Section 1. That n.irby-Tuttle Co. incorporated, is hereby
declared to be the lowest and best bidder for the furnishing of
the electrical equipment for the recreation building: for service
men at No. 1 Biscayne Street , 14iami'Beach, Florida, said project
beim known as r'. e+ . A. ,la. d-249, according co the plans and
specifications heretofore approved by the City hanager and by
Architect August Geiger.
Section 2. That Val C. Cleary .and C. uw. Tomlinson, respec-
tively, as Mayor and Clerk of said City be and they are hereby
severally authorized for and on behalf of said City to enter into
a contract with said. Kirby-Tuttle Co. Incorporated for the furnish-
ing of electrical equipment for said building according to the
said plans and specifications on the oasis of said contractor' s
bid in the sum of ,,929.99, provided, however, that before said
contract shall be delivered, or work commenced on saidproject, said
award. shall first be approved by the Regional ijirector, Region .No.
3, Federal wiorks A ency of the United States of America.
