Resolution 5656 RESOLUTION NO. 5656 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 1st, 1943. WHEREAS, for the purpose of holding and conducting general elections of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, said City has been divided into nine voting precincts or election districts numbered 24 to 32 inclusive, the boundaries of said precincts or districts being officially described in Ordinance No. 595 as passed and adopted by the City Council on kril 2nd and April 16, 1941, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida: SECTION 1: That for the purpose of liolding and conducting the general election to be held on June lst, 1943, polling places for the respective voting precincts or voting districts be and the same are hereby'designated and established to— wit: PRECINCT NO, 24: (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying NORTH of Everglades Concourse and NORTH of 71st Street, The Polling Place shall be at Biscayne Elementary School, being situated at 800 . 77th Street, just west of Dickens "Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 25: (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between Everglades Concourse and 71st Street, ON THE NORTH, and 51st Street ON THE SOUTH. The Polling place shall be at the 69th Street Fire Station, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive, PRECINCT NO. 26: As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between 51st Street, ON THE NORTH and a LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay. t A The Polling Place shall be at The Auditorium of North Beach Elementary School situated on the Northeast Corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the centerline of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island. The Polling Place shall be et The Dade Boulevard Fire Station, situated on the north— west corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive. PRECINCT NO. 28: (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27, ON THE NORTH, a.rd A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence west along the centerline of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay. The Polling Place shall be at 1626 Michigan Avenue, in the 1000 Lincoln Road Building. PRECINCT NO. 29: (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the south line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 11th. Street to Meridian Avenue , thence south along the centerline of Meridian Avenue to 10th Street, thence westerly along the centerline of 10th Street to Biscayne Bay. The Pollins Place shall be at The Fire Station in the City Hall Building, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30 : (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the south line of Precinct No. 29, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay. The Polling Place shall be at The Life Guard Station, situated in Lummus Park, on the -3- ocean front at 10th Street. PRECINCT NO. 31, (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) beim; the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the south line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island. The Polling Place to be at The Old City Hall building, situated at 617 Collins Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 32, (As officially described in Ordinance No. 595) being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying south of the South line CC Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway. The Polling Place to be at The Police Traffi ; Department building, situated at 111 Meridian Aven to . SECTION 2: That said general election be held at the polling places for the respective voting precincts as above set forth and all electors shall vote at the polling place in the precinct in which the registration books of said City show that the said electors reside. SECTION 3: That said election be held from 8 o' clock A. M. , until sundown on June 1st, 1943, for the purpose of electing five (5) City Councilmen, all of which persons shall hold office for the term of two years, and/or until their successors are regularly elected and qualified, except that the two Council- men who shall receive the highest number of votes at such election shall hold office for the term or four years, and/or until their successors are regularly elected and qualified. SECTION 4: That notice of said election shall be given by the Mayor of saia City by posting the notice hereinafter provided for a period of thirty days in three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, to-wit: At the Police Station, at Dade Boulevard Fire Station and at the City Hall, and shall be pub- lished once a week for a period of four (4) consecutive weeks -4-- next preceding such election in the Miami Beach Times, a newspaper published in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, SECTION 5: That notice of election shall be in substantially the following form: "NOTICE OF ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a GENERAL ELECTION will be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from 8 o' clock A. M. , until sundown on June 1st, 1943, for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City: Five persons es members of the City Council, The two receiving the highest number of votes as Council- men to hold office for the term of ftu.r years. All other officers so elected shall hold office for the term of two years. For the purpose of holding and conducting said election the City of Miami Beach has been divided into nine voting precincts or election districts, with polling places there- in as follows: PRECINCT NO, 24: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying NORTH of Everglades Concourse and NORTH of 71st Street, the Polling Place of which shall be at BISCAYNE ELEMENTARY SCHO01, being situated at 800 - 77th Street, just west of Dickens Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 25: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between Everglades Concourse and (1st Street ON THE NORTH and 51st Street ON THE SOUTH, the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69th STREET FIRE STATION, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive, PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between 51st Street ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Bis- cayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE AUDITOR- IUM OF NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the north- west corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue, PRECINCT NO, 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No, 26, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence al ng the centerline of Dade Boule- vard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive, PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic cean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of BayRoad to 14th Street, thence west along the centerline of 1th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at 1626 Michigan Avenue in the 1000 Lincoln Road Building. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the south line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH runnitg westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 11th Street to Meridian Avenue, thence south along the centerline of Meridian Avenue to 10th Street, thence westerly along the centerline of 10th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the south line of Precinct No. 29, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE LIFE GUARD STATION, situated in Lummus Park, on the ocean front at 10th Street. PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH and a LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the OLD CITY HALL BUILDING, slituated at 617 Collins Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying south of the south line of Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT BUILDING, situated at 111 Meridian Avenue. All electors shall vote at the Polling Place in the voting precinct in which the City Registration books show that said electors reside. The registration Books of said City will be open for the pur— pose of registering any person qualified to vote in said elec— tion until and including May 1st, 1943.
