• cu.hllot _AS, the City Council of the City of "iami Beach,
Florida, has been informed that a bill creating a bort authority
for the iort of Greater Miami has been forwarded, for introduc-
tion, to the Dade County members of the Florida Legislature; and
,ViiErtIAs, copies of the proposed bill haveheretofore been
furnished to said City Council; and.
rn: RIAS, certain phases of said bill appear to this body
as detrimental to the interests of the City of lvdami Beach and
of its citizens, particularly that portion of said bill which
designates said port authority as an agent of the City of Miami
and grants to said port authority the right to take, by purchase
or eminent domain, property outside the boundaries of said City
of Miami, and further provides that the property so acquired by
a
said port authority shall thereafter be free of taxes,

City of Miami Beach, Florida, that it is the opinion of said body
that the Passage of the said bill would be detrimental to the
City of Miami Beach and to its citizens and should be opposed.

and to the Hon. Marshall C. 'vaiseheart, hon. U. au. Peters, and

and that said Senator and said Members of the T=+_ouse be andthey
are hereby requested to resist the passage of said bill and to
resist the passage of any other port bill affecting interests in
Dade County unless anduntil this City Council has an opportunity
to examine and investigate the contents thereof.
