The Salvation Army 2nd agmt SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND
THE SALVATION ARMY, A GEORGIA CORPORATION
This Amendment to the Agreement, dated December 20, 2000, by and between the CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, a Florida municipal corporation, having its principal office at 1700 Convention
Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139, hereinafter referred to as the "City", and THE
SALVATION ARMY, A Georgia Corporation, having offices at 1907 N.W. 38th Street, Miami,
Florida 33135, hereinafter refeffed to as the "Provider", is entered into this 30th day of September,
2002.
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, on December 20, 2000, through Resolution Number 2000-24214, the Mayor
and City Commission authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an Agreement between the
City and the Provider, for HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, in the amount of ONE-
HUNDRED AND TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($110,000), to provide EMERGENCY
SHELTER BEDS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH HOMELESS POPULATION; and
WHEREAS, on September 20, 2001, through Resolution Number 2001-24588, the Mayor
and City Commission authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a First Amendment to the
Agreement between the City and the Provider, identifying additional funding for and extending the
expiration date of said contract to September 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, funding allocated to said Agreement came to an end as of June 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the City believes that continuation of this Project is of vital importance to the
well being of the community and has identified an additional $50,597, available for continuation of
this Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the parties now wish to amend the aforementioned Agreement to add this
amount and enable the Agreement to continue to its expiration date of September 30, 2002; and
W'HEREAS, this Amendment does not change the purpose, scope of services, location or
beneficiaries of the activities as reflected in the Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Agreement is hereby amended as follows:
(1) Section 3: Compensation is hereby amended to include an additional $19,672 fi'om FY
1999/2000 Community Development Block Grant Funds; $18,000 from FY 2000/2001
administrative Community Development Block Grant Funds; $5,000 from FY 2001/2002
Community Development Block Grant Funds; and $7,925 from FY2001/2002
Emergency Shelter Grants Funds, for a total of $50,597.00 available for continuation of
this Agreement, to be used in furtherance of the Services to be peffo~sned by Provider.
(2) All other temis and conditions of the Agreement between the City and the Provider shall
remain the same in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this Second Amendment to the
Agreement to be executed by their duly on the day first above indicated.

The Salvation Army in the United States works cooperatively with many groups -
governmental, social service, civic, religious, business, humanitarian, educational,
health, character building, and other groups - in the pursuit of its mission to preach the
Christian Gospel and meet human need.
Any agency, governmental or private, which enters into a contractual or cooperative
relationship with The Salvation Army should be advised that:
The Salvation Army is an international religious and charitable movement,
organized and operated on a quasi-military pattern, and is a branch of the
Christian church.
All programs of The Salvation Army are administered by Salvation Army
Officers, who are ministers of the Gospel.
The motivation of the organization is love of God and a practical concern
for the needs of humanity.
The Salvation Army's provision of food, shelter, health services, counseling,
and other physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual aid, is
given on the basis of need, available resources and established program
policies.
Organizations contracting and/or cooperating with The Salvation Army may be assured
that because The Salvation Army is rooted in Christian compassion and is governed by
Judeo-Christian ethics, The Salvation Army will strictly observe all provisions of its
contracts and agreements.
