1675-1 Senator Hotel Capitman said. Unable to bear seeing the hotel destroyed, she left before the
backhoe arrived.
It will take the wrecking crew about 10 days to bring down the
structure, said Don Hughes, who is supervising the job for Cuyahoga Wrecking,
the firm hired by Royale to do the job for about $30, 000 .
The demolition job will take about 10 days to complete because the
wrecking crew has to haul away the debris as it knocks the hotel down, Hughes
said. That is because the corner of 12th Street and Collins Avenue has little
open space in which to maneuver, he said.
The Senator' s last residents were removed from the hotel shortly before
the demolition started. They were two baby kittens, one a gray tabby and the
other black and white. The baby kittens, so young their eyes were still
closed, were adopted by a woman with the demolition crew.
