A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FINDING AS TO THE
NUMBER OF FREEHOLDERS LEGALLY QUALIFIED TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE BOND ELECTION HELD APRIL
4, 1944, AND CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE
SAID BOND ELECTION AND DECLARING THE RESULT
TO BE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS IN THE TOTAL
SUM OF $1,670,000.00 FOR THE PURPOSES IN
THIS RESOLUTION STATED.
WHEREAS, the City Clerk and Supervisor of Registration of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, has certified that the total number of
freeholders who were qualified electors residing in said City, and
legally qualified to participate in the bond election held in said
City on April 4, 1944, was 3273, and
WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns of
the certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held and conducted
said bond election held on April 4, 1944, such canvass having been
made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns,
* NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare that the
total number of the freeholders who were qualified electors residing
in said City and legally qualified to participate in the bond elec-
tion held in said City on April 4, 1944, was 3273, and that a majority
thereof participated in said election, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby find and declare that
the total number of votes cast in said election in favor of the
approval of the bonds and the total number of votes cast in said elec-
tion against the approval of the bonds were as follows:
Upon the question: 1. "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount
of Nine Hundred Twenty Thousand ($920,000.00)
Dollars with interest at a rate hereafter to
be determined, not exceeding 3i% per annum,
for the purpose of acquiring, for golf course,
park and other municipal purposes, property
located in said City and known as "Bay Shore
Golf Course" , which, if acquired by purchase,
will be conveyed to said City on the terms,
and in the manner set forth in Resolution No.
5717 passed and adopted by the City Council
on the first day of March, A. D. 1944? "
1629 votes were cast, of which 1439 votes
were "For Bonds" and 190 votes were "Against
Bonds".
Upon the question: 2. "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount
of Five Hundred Thousand ( $500,000.00) Dollars,
with interest at a rate hereafter to be
determined, not exceeding 3- % per annum, for
the purpose of constructing a water supply
main across Biscayne Bay on or near North
Bay Causeway together with necessary pumping
equipment and connections to the Miami Beach
Water Distribution System? " 1657 votes were
cast, of which 1602 votes were "For Bonds"
and 55 votes were "Against Bonds".
Upon the question: 3. "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount
of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand ($250,000.00)
Dollars, with interest at a rate hereafter
to be determined, not exceeding 3- % per
annum, for the purpose of constructing
additional trunk lines and improvements to
the pumping facilities at the 11th Street
and 28th Street sanitary sewer pumping
systems including increasing the capacity
of the force main from the 11th Street
System? " 1653 votes were cast, of which
1583 votes were "For Bonds" and 70 votes
were "Against Bonds".
and,
WHEREAS, a majority of the total number of freeholders who were
qualified electors residing in said City, and legally qualified to
participate in said Bond Election, did vote therein, and
WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast were in favor of the approval
of the bonds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby declare
that the issuance of said bonds in the aggregate sum of $1,670,000.00
has been duly and legally approved by the voters, as provided by law.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of April, A. D. 1944.
