RESOLUTION NO. 2018 -30301 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ATTACHED LIST OF CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS PURSUANT TO THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE TICKET POLICY SET FORTH IN RESOLUTION NO. 2014- 28638. WHEREAS, on June 11, 2014, the City Commission adopted the Comprehensive Complimentary Ticket Policy ( "Policy ") pursuant to Resolution No 2014 - 28638. Pursuant to the Policy, the City Manager's Office prepares a list of deserving organizations and groups eligible to receive complimentary tickets given to the City of Miami Beach by cultural and entertainment partners; and WHEREAS, the list of eligible organizations is reviewed on an annual basis by the Neighborhood /Community Affairs Committee ( "NCAC "), and then subsequently reviewed and approved by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, on March 21, 2018, the NCAC reviewed the existing list of 41 eligible organizations and proposed the addition of two new organizations to the list: Miami Beach United and the Latin Chamber of Commerce, bringing the proposed list to a total of 43 organizations; and WHEREAS, during the April 11, 2018 City Commission meeting, an item approving the NCAC's recommendation was placed on the Commission agenda and then referred for discussion to the Committee of the Whole ( "Committee ") on April 27, 2018; and WHEREAS, on April 27, 2018, the Committee met and discussed various aspects of the Policy, including the list of eligible organizations. The Committee provided direction regarding removing the two new proposed additions to the list, and maintaining the existing list of 41 organizations as eligible to receive complimentary tickets pursuant to the Policy; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to approve the existing list of 41 organizations eligible to receive tickets pursuant to the Policy. RECOMMENDATION Approve the attached list (Exhibit A) of charitable organizations eligible to receive complimentary tickets pursuant to the City's Complimentary Ticket Policy. ANALYSIS On June 11, 2014 the City Commission adopted the Complimentary Ticket Policy ( "Policy ") pursuant to Resolution No. 2014-28638. As detailed in the Policy, the City Manager's Office prepared a list of deserving organizations and groups eligible to receive complimentary tickets given to the City of Miami Beach by cultural and entertainment partners. Also pursuant to this Policy, the list of eligible organizations is to be reviewed and approved on an annual basis by the Neighborhood and Community Affairs Committee (NCAC), and approved by the City Commission. On March 21, 2018, the NCAC reviewed the existing list of 41 eligible organizations and proposed the addition of two new organizations to the list: Miami Beach United and the Latin Chamber of Commerce, bringing the list to a total of 43 organizations. CONCLUSION Administration recommends approving the attached list of charitable organizations eligible to receive complimentary tickets pursuant to the City's Complimentary Ticket Policy and as recommended by Page 1020 of 1842 the Committee of the Whole.
