PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

RESOLUTION NO. 5810
• WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, has seen fit to
take to his reward, our Beloved President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
who has for such a long period been our Able Leader through times of
peace and our Trusted Commander-in-Chief during the present world-
wide conflict; and
WHEREAS, the course on which our Fearless Leader has held us is
inevitably leading to an early and a glorious victory for this Nation
and our Allies; and
WHEREAS, our Honored Chief has been outstanding in his leader-
ship in the conferences of our Great Powers, which from time to time
have taken place in the direction of war and in preparations for a
lasting peace, the most important of which is about to take place in
the City of San Francisco and to which the world has been looking
forward with high hopes for a just and equitable Peace Plan under the
guidance of our able President ; and
WHEREAS, throughout these twelve years of rugged and faithful
service as President of these United States of America, our Esteemed
Friend has so ably demonstrated his love for his fellow man, his
indomitable courage and cheerful leadership, although laboring all
this time under a handicap of physical disability which would have
long since retired the average man, thus endearing himself to many
millions of his countrymen, regardless of their political tendencies
or affiliations;

NOW, THERE FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby publicly express, for ourselves
and also in behalf of the citizens of our City, our sincere feeling of
the deep and irreparable loss we have all suffered in the passing of
this Great Man, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and we do hereby express
to his family and loved ones our heartfelt sympathy ; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we heartily express the hope that our
Nation ' s leaders will continue to carry out the plans, ideals and
examples set in motion by him; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we firmly, however, believing in the
traditions of our great Democracy and depending upon Divine Guidance
of our destiny, do hereby pledge our loyal and unswerving allegiance and
support to the Honorable Harry Se Truman, Who has already been sworn
in as our new President, and we do hereby unanimously pray that he may
be given the strength, guidance and wisdom to lead our nation success-
fully through these critical and trying years which are ahead.
