RESOLUTION NO. 5818
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON JUNE 5TH, 1945.
WHEREAS, for the purpose of holding and conducting general
elections of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, said City has been
divided into nine voting precincts or election districts numbered
24 to 32, inclusive, the boundaries of said precincts or districts
being officially described in Ordinance No. 595 as passed and
adopted by the City Council on April 2nd, and April 16th, 1941,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida:
SECTION 1: That for the purpose of holding and conducting the
general election to be held on June 5th, 1945, polling
places for the respective voting precincts or voting districts be
and the same are hereby designated and established to-wit :
PRECINCT NO. 24: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being all the area within the City
of Miami Beach lying NORTH of Everglades Concourse and NORTH
of 71st Street .
The Polling Place shall be at Surfside Park Life Guard
Station, Ocean Front, between 72nd and 73rd Streets .
PRECINCT NO. 25: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of Miami
Beach lying between Everglades Concourse and 71st Street, ON THE
NORTH, and 51st Street ON THE SOUTH.
The Polling Place shall be at the 69th Street Fire
Station, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive.
PRECINCT NO. 26: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between 51st Street, ON THE NORTH and a LINE
ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along
the centerline of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence
Westerly along the centerline of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne
Bay.
The Polling Place shall be at The Auditorium of North
Beach Elementary School, situated on the Northeast Corner of
the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue.

PRECINCT NO. 27 : (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26 ,
ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from
the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to
Dade Boulevard; thence along the centerline of Dade Boule-
vard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto
Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island.
The Polling Place shall be at The Dade Boulevard Fire
Station, situated on the Northwest corner of the intersection
of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive .
PRECINCT NO. 28: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27,
ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from
the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to
Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to
14th Street, thence West along the centerline of 14th Street
to Biscayne Bay.
The Polling Place shall be at 1667 Michigan Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 29: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28,
ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running westerly from
the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 11th Street to
Meridian Avenue, thence south along the centerline of Meridian
Avenue to 10th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline
of 10th Street to Biscayne Bay.
The Polling Place shall be at The Fire Station in the City
Hall Building, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue
and Drexel Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 30: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of Miami
Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29, ON THE
NORTH and A LINE ON TEE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic
Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence
South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence
Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay.
The Polling Place shall be at The Life Guard Station,
situated in Lummus Park on the Ocean Front at 10th Street .
PRECINCT NO. 31: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30,
ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from
the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to
Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block
111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also in-
cluding Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island.
The Polling Place to be at The Old City Hall Building,
situated at 617 Collins Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 32: (As officially described in Ordinance No.
595) being all the area within the City
of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No.
31, also including the Causeway property and the islands South
of the County Causeway.
The Polling Place to be at The Police Traffic Department
Building, situated at 111 Meridian Avenue.

SECTION 2. That said general election be held at the Polling Places
for the respective voting precincts as above set forth
and all electors shall vote at the Polling Place in the precinct in
which the registration books of said City show that the said electors
reside.
SECTION 3. That said election be held from 7 o'clock, A. M. , until
Sundown, on June 5th, 1945, for the purpose of electing
five (5) City Councilmen, all of whom shall hold office for the term
of two years, and/or until their successors are regularly elected and
qualified, except that the two Councilmen who shall receive the high-
est number of votes at such election shall hold office for the term of
four years, and/or until their successors are regularly elected and
qualified.
And also for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors
of said City the question of whether or not Ordinance No. 73k as
passed and adopted by the City 'ouncil of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, on May 2nd, 1945, shall become effective, said Ordinance
being entitled:
"An Ordinance providing for the creation
and maintenance of a pension, annuity and
retirement system for certain employees
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida. "
And also for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors
of said City the question of whether or not Senate Bill 301 , as
passed and adopted at the 1945 Session of the Florida Legislature,
shall become effective, said Bill being an Act amending the Charter
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, so as to authorize the City
Council to fix and increase the compensation of its own members, pro-
vided such compensation shall not exceed three thousand (0,000.00)
Dollars, per year, and that such increase in salary shall not prevent
any City Councilman, in office, at the time of such increase, from
being a candidate for, and being elected to, the City Council at en-
suing elections, said Senate Bill 301 being entitled:
"An Act to amend Section 11 of Chapter
7672 of the Laws of Florida, as amended,
relating to the Municipal Government of
the City of Miami Beach. "

SECTION 4. That notice of said Election shall be given by the
City Clerk of said City by publishing the Notice
hereinafter provided for, once a week for a period of fb ur (4) con-
secutive weeks, next preceding such election, in the Miami Beach
Sun and Miami Beach Daily Tropics, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Miami Beach, Florida.
SECTION 5. That notice of election shall be in substantially the
following form:
"NOTICE OF ELECTI ON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a GENERAL ELECTION
will be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from
7 o'clock, A. M. , until Sundown, on June 5th, 1945,
for the purpose of electing the following officers of
said City:
Five persons as members of the City Council;
The two receiving the highest number of votes as
Councilmen to hold office for the term of four years.
All other officers so elected shall hold office for the
term of two years.
And also for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
electors of said City the question of whether or not
Ordinance No. 734 as passed and adoptedby the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, on May 2nd,
1945, shall become effective, said Ordinance being entitled:
"An Ordinance Providing for the creation
and maintenance of a pension, annuity and
retirement system for certain employees of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida . "
And also for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
electors of said City the question of whether or not
Senate Bill 301 as passed and adopted at the 1945 Session

For the purpose of holding and conducting said election
the City of Miami Beach has been divided into nine voting
precincts or election districts, with Polling Places therein
as follows :

PRECINCT NO. 24 : Being all the area within the City
of Miami Beach lying NORTH of Everglades Concourse
and NORTH of 71st Street, the Polling Flace of which
shall be at Surfside Park Life Guard Station, Ocean
Front, between 72nd and 73rd Streets.
PRECINCT NO. 25: Being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between Everglades Concourse and
71st Street ON THE NORTH and 51st Street ON THE SOUTH,
the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69th STREET
FIRE STATION, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive.
PRECINCT NO. 26 : Being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between 51st Street ON THE NORTH
and a LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the
Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 34th Street to
Biscayne Waterway, thence Vest erly along the centerline
of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place
of which shall be at THE AUDITORIUM OF NORTH BEACH ELE-
MENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the Northwest corner of the
intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avelue.
PRECINCT NO. 27 : Being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct
No. 26, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running
Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline
of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the
centerline of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also

and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall
be at THE DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the
Norti-west corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard

PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No.
27, ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly
from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th
Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of
Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the centerline
of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which
shall be at 1667 Michigan Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami
Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28,
ON THE NORTH, and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly
from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 11th Street
to Meridian Avenue, thence South along the centerline of
Meridian Ave rue to 10th Street, thence 'Westerly along the
centerline of 10th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling
Place of which shall be at THE FIRE STATION IN THE CITY
HALL BUILD]:NG, situated on 12th Street between Washington
Avenue and Drexel Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami
Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29,
on THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly
from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street
to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton
Road to 6th Street , thence westerly along the centerline
of 6th '-'treet to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which
shall be at TEE LIFE GUARD STATION, situated in Lummus
Park, on the ocean front at 10th Street.
PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami
Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30,
ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running West erly from
the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline cf 3rd Street to
Alton Road, thence along the south line of Lot 32 in Block
111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also

the Polling Place of which. shall be at the OLD CITY HALL
BUILDING, situated at 617 Collins Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of
Miami Beach lying south of the south line of Precinct No.
31, also including the Causeway property and the islands
south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which
shall be at THE POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT BUILDING, sit-
uated at 111 Meridian Avenue.
All electors shall vote at the Polling Place in the voting
precinct in which the City Registration books show that
said electors reside.
The registration books of said City will be open for the
purpose of registering any person qualified. to vote in
said election until and including May 15, 1945.
Only persons properly registered will be qualified to vote
in said election. "
