RESOLUTION NO. 583 +
WHEREAS, our colleague, Mr. Val C. Cleary, is this day
retiring as a member of this Body, having served his City a total
of fifteen and one-half years, the first three years of which were
in the capacity of Tax Assessor, two years as Mayor by vote of the
citizens, and ten and one-half years as Councilman, serving as
Mayor and Chairman for two years of this period; and
WHEREAS, the said Val C. Cleary has, throughout all these
years, served his community tirelessly and unselfishly and has now
voluntarily relinquished his seat on the City Council, the better
to serve the citizens of Miami Beach in his present office as a
Commissioner of Dade County, an office to which the voters of said
County have recently elected him; and
WHEREAS, his genial personality, sound judgment and wise
counsel will long be missed by his former associates on said City
Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby publicly express
our thanks and appreciation to Val C. Cleary for his long and
faithful service; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we express the hope that our City
may have the privilege of his continued deep interest in our Muni-
cipal, as well as our County, affairs, and the benefit of his
advice and counsel; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we extend to him the individual
good wishes of all members of this Body, for his future happiness,
good health and success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon
the minutes of this meeting, that copies hereof be furnished to the
Press and that a suitable embossed original be prepared and present-
ed to our friend, the Honorable Val C. Cleary.
