Dear Sam,
Thank you for your letter of May 27. The last
paragraph was significant in that it led me to the
University of Miami library where I found the
Redford tapes, thereby making it unnecessary for
me to come up to Gainesville at the end of the
month.
I still would like to come up and browse but the
immediacy is now gone.
The tapes are in very good condition and I have
contacted Jim Redford, Polly 's widower , about
quoting from portions of them.
The Miami Beach book is going well . I say that but
the truth is that I have yet to write a word. As
-you undoubtedly know, research is a lot more fun
than writing.
Nevertheless, I have just about spent as much time
as possible on the earliest years of Miami Beach
history and now have to concentrate on more recent
years. The city has undergone astonishing change
since World War II .
I will be back in touch with you shortly about
scheduling a later trip to Gainesville. Thanks for
what you have done thus far.
Sincerely,
Howard Kleinberg
