Resolution 6693 RESOLUTION NO. 6693 WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, each year, attracts, as tourist visitors, famous and oustanding personalities; and WHEREAS, these world-renowned celebrities include newspaper columnists with national coverage, nationwide radio commentators, and individuals who have widespread followings, are names in the news and are frequently quoted; and WHEREAS, Miami Beach depends almost solely and entirely upon the tourist industry; and WHEREAS, tourists are attracted to Miami Beach only through good publicity; and WHEREAS, the aforesaid celebrated personalities represent an important factor in the character and type of publicity which this city gets; and WHEREAS, that publicity will largely depend upon the hospi- tality accorded these famous persons; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that a Hospitality Committee be and the same is hereby created by the City Council of Miami Beach, which said Committee shall be composed of five persons in the community to be designated by the City Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Hospitality Committee officially represents the City of Miami Beach in extending a welcome and pursuing such activities as they deem necessary to best serve the interests of the City and show such visiting dignitaries a proper welcome.
