HANNAH, 84 a resident of
Miami Beach for 50 years,
passed away Saturday, Aug
21, 1993. Mrs Kumble and
her husband Henry were best
known for their conversion of
an Espanola Way ice cream
parlor named Dolly Madison
into the most popular Miami
Beach High student hangout
in the school's history. They
operated"Dolly's"during the
late forties and early fifties.
After selling Dolly Madison,
the Kumbles owned the Ever-
glades Soda Shop on Lenox
Avenue and 15th Street dur-
ing the mid-fifties. Later, Mrs
Kumble was employed by
Burdines in Miami Beach for
20 years before retiring. She
was pre-deceased by her
husband Henry in 1964 and
daughter Madelyn in 1987.
Mrs Kumble was born in •
Slonim, Russia and emigrat-
ed to the US with her mother
Rachel Sapolksy in 1909.She
graduated from Eastern Dis-
trict High School in Brooklyn
at the age of 15 and was a
member of Arista, the school
honor society. She will be t
dearly missed by all of her
family and friends, including
her son Richard (Linda);
I•granddaughters: Allison and
Hilary, Shirley and Murray
Shapiro and nephew Saul
Robins. Funeral services
were private. Entombment is
at Lakeside Memorial Park.
