Resolution 6908 RESOLUTION NO. 6908
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida,
now in Session, is considering the establishment of a medical
and dental school in this State, and
WHEREAS, medical research, teaching facilities and other
advantages already existing in Dade County would greatly supplement
and implement the functioning of such an institution if located in
the Miami Area, and
WHEREAS, the climatic factors, as well as the geographical
location, and the availability of clinical material are all conducive
to the best opportunities for medical study and the achievement of
ultimate as well as immediate objectives and goals, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach deems
it to be to the best interest of the entire State of Florida as well
as to the best interest of the people of Miami Beach and Dade County,
citizens and visitors alike, that such medical and dental institution
be so established,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
(1) That the proposed medical and dental school be located
in Dade County, Florida;
(2) That the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to
transmit copies of this resolution to Governor Fuller Warren and to
Senator R. B. Gautier, Jr. , Honorable William C. Lantaff, Honorable
George Okell and Honorable Grant Stockdale, Members of the Housey
as well as to other interested organizations and officers of the
County and State.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of May, A. D. 1949.
