A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CANVASSING THE
RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD OCTOBER
25, 1949, AND DECLARING THE RESULT TO BE FOR
THE APPROVAL, OF THE MEASURE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE
NO. 891, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON ITS THIRD AND
FINAL READING ON THE 17TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1949.
WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns of
the certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held. and conducted
the Special Election held on October 25, 1949, such canvass having
been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare that the total
dumber of votes cast in said election for the approval of the measure
and the total number of votes cast in said election against the approval
of the measure were as follows:
Upon the a_ue st ion: "SHALL ORDINANCE NO. 891 AS PASSED AND
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ON AUGUST 17TH,
1949, BECOME EFFECTIVE, SAID ORDINANCE
BEING ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTEN-
ANCE OF A PENSION AND RETIREMENT SYSTEM
FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" ; DEFINING THE TERM
"DEPENDENT BENEFICIARY" ; PROVIDING FOR
INCREASED EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTIONS AND
BENEFITS AT EMPLOYEE'S OPTION; PROVIDING
FOR CONDITIONAL INCREASE IN THE CITY' S
CONTRIBUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM
RETIREMENT AND PENSION BENEFITS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY
RETIRANTS IN ELECTIONS FOR TRUSTEES?"
670 votes were cast, of which 593 votes
were "For the Measure" and 77 votes were
"Against the Measure".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FU RT=E R RESOLVED that we do hereby d clare
that the measure known as Ordinance No. 891, passed and adopted on its
third and final reading on the 17th day of August, 1949, has been duly
and legally approved by the voters as provided by law.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 26th day of October, A. D. 1949.
