ry dear Jim,
Replying to yours of the 8tho,
I on going to get you some lifo mambora for ,loosoheart
le possible.
Tho Florida situation is almost impoioible to nill over"
by correspondenoo. I an in a hurry to got to Naa York, leaving
here tomorrow, ao I can't stop off and coo you e you suggest.
Possibly you will be daun in reu York some time soon. I don't know
juot what your conneotion is with the Cabinet or hay/ much you are
tied up with it or if you maid care to tackle another job besides
tho- one you havo. The general sohemo of things at the present time
seems to be to get a large number of tho responsible and influential
real estate dealers and the cities together in a combined plan and
raise a largo sum of money and to tell the people, genorally, over
the United btateo the truth about Florida and what ,eo have to offor
them hero. The horn done to this country came from crooks and spec.
ulators from the north. They came in like a sarin of loci.sto and the
newspapers and bankers up north never stopped to investigate the
matter at all. They jumped on the State and they have caused us
a great deal of trouble. II,/ own firm is no troubled by these rumors
but a great many of the other firma have been troubled by the lack of
confidence of those people who have purchased property and who have
now lost considerable faith in Florida. I don't know what may bosoms
of this move.. The only thing I can do io to roport back to acme of
the most interested parties whether or not you would consider a
proposition of this and. Answer this to Port Washington, please. •
Yours. _
