LTC 375-2018 Venetian Islands Lane Closures on Venetian Causeway at Rivo Alto Island MIAMI BEACH
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
NO. LTC# 375-2018 LETT, R TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of e City Co / fission
FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager 114.
DATE: July 5, 2018
SUBJECT: Venetian Islands — Lane Closures . Venetian Causeway at Rivo Alto Island
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide information to the Mayor and City
Commission regarding upcoming lane closures on the Venetian Causeway at the Rivo Alto
Island.
The Venetian Islands Right-of-Way Improvement project, which included the installation of new
roadway, drainage, lighting, and six (6) stormwater pump stations is reaching the final phase of
construction completion.
In coordination with Florida Power and Light (FPL), a service point to supply power is required
for the pump station at the south end of Rivo Alto Drive. In order to connect the service point for
the South Rivo Alto Island pump station, conduits must be installed across the Venetian
Causeway. As you know, pump stations are critical in mitigating flooding during heavy storm
events and this connection is necessary.
The duration of this installation will impact traffic east and west bound on the Venetian
Causeway, close to the East Rivo Alto Drive intersection, intermittently, Monday through Friday,
from 9 AM to 4 PM, beginning on July 9 through August 6, 2018.
The Office of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) has advised residents and the Venetian
Islands Home Owner's Association of the impending closures and provided them with an
Advisory (see attached).
CIP also sent the Advisory to the City of Miami Beach Public Works, Transportation, Police,
Fire, Emergency Management and Communications Departments.
A Maintenance of Traffic Plan (MOT) will be in place for safe and expeditious movement of
traffic through the work zone, as approved as part of the Miami-Dade County Department of
Transportation and Public Works permit. At the end of each day the road will be re-opened
completely for normal traffic flow.
Should you have any questions, please contact David Martinez, at 305-673-7071.
