Indian Creek inlet filled in and early 19th century hurricane created Norris Cut which separates today's Virginia Key from today's Miami Beach. Government Cut (1905) separated Fisher Island from Miami Beach. Hundreds of acres of bay bottom were filled in on both Fisher and Virginia to give them their outline today.
