Dear Carl:
Just received a telegram from my boakkeepor, Clark,
thatL;eloy, Dickey and Henning of the Council have under consideration giving
permission to one, Douglas, for the erection of a, building just South of my 1
office on the bay for the promotion of prize fights and wrestling matches; 1
• and that final decision is to be .ven at next Wednesday's Council meeting.
Think you had better wire ?ancoast, Brown and Mayor James to oppose it, and
I shall do the same. You kno.v what a bunch of ruffians that mould bring to
the beach and vie have been trying so hard to loep the place clean in that
respect; but I notice that the committee is very weak and they will grant
the permission unless we bring great pressure to bear.
Yours very -truly,
fir
