TRIBUTE TO MIMO BUILDINGS
The North Beach Development Corporation will finish its first MiMo in May
Series, which celebrates the postwar Miami Modern architecture of the 1950s
and '60s. The remaining events are:
* "Bits of Bard" Shakespearean performances, presented at 7 p.m. Saturday
and Sunday at North Beach's outdoor MiMo-styled Ocean Terrace Bandshell, 73rd
Street and Collins Avenue.
* A 1950s-style beach party will cap off the events with a classic car
show, Hula Hoop, costume and dance contests, and food and music from the era,
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 29 at the Ocean Terrace Bandshell, at 73rd Street
and Collins Avenue.

MIMO STYLE IS ON DISPLAY

The North Beach Development Corporation is presenting its first "MiMo in
May Series, " which celebrates the architecture exclusive to North Beach, with
events every Saturday in May.
MiMo is short for the postwar "Miami Modern" architecture of the 1950s
and '60s. Events include:
* MiMo expert Teri D'Amico will speak at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dezerland
Beach Resort, 8701 Collins Ave.
* Bits of Bard Shakespearean performances will be presented at 3 and 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday and 7 p.m. May 22-23, at the North Beach's outdoor
MiMo-styled Ocean Terrace Bandshell, 73rd Street and Collins Avenue.
* "The Grand Finale 1950s Style Beach Party" will cap off the eventsfrom
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 29 at the Ocean Terrace Bandshell.
