Dear Howard:
I'm enclosing some Hill York information that you may find interesting for your book on Miami
Beach.
It is a fact that Hill York was responsible for air conditioning almost all the existing hotels on
Miami Beach after World War II, and this enabled Miami Beach to become a year around resort.
If it hadn't been Hill York it would have been someone else. We just happened to be in the
right area at the right time with the right expertise.
One of the first hotels air conditioned was the Roney Plaza. This was a major undertaking for
Hill York at the time because to put in a central system in an existing large facility is no easy
take.
Read through the material I sent you and call me if you have any questions. I am also enclosing
many letters from old customers (1947-1952) on Miami Beach praising our service and systems.
It is interesting to note that many people wanted air conditioning in their bar, barber shop or
restaurant so people would stay longer and spend more money because not all establishments
were air conditioned.
Hope this information is helpful to you.
Very truly yours,
HILL YORK CORPORATION
