RESOLUTION NO. 7879
A RESOLUTION DEDICATED TO
THE MEMORY OF
LOUIS F. '"RED" SNEDIGAR
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His Infinite Wisdom has seen fit to summarily
call our late friend and colleague, LOUIS F. SNEDIGAR, and
WHEREAS, "Red", as he was affectionately called by his legion of friends,
has been closely associated with the phenomenal growth and development of our
City almost from its inception; devoting many years of his life to public
service, having been elected Mayor for the first time in October of 1922,
subsequently serving three additional terms as Mayor, and in addition thereto
being returned by our citizenry to public service as a member of this Body,
serving two such terms from June 1, 1945 to June 1, 1949, and
WHEREAS, during his many constructive years of service to the City of
Miami Beach, "Red" endeared himself to all who came in contact with him; his
sense of humor and his ready wit being the means of relieving tension in the
most trying of times; and his devotion to hie fellow man being most
commendable, and
WHEREAS, when our friend "Red" later soughtpublic office as a member of
the Dade County Commission in the year 1949 he was elected by a big majority
and we were proud to have his represent us in this capacity, and
WHEREAS, "Red' s" combined City and County public service added up to
approximately fifteen years, a record seldom equaled;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, that we hereby acknowledge and proclaim that in the passing
of our good friend, 'Louis F. "Red" Snedigar, this City and the County of Dade
have lost a worthy public servant of sterling character whose place in our
midst will be difficult to fill, and we shall long remember him for his
friendly smile and the kindly manner in which he met and helped those with
whom he came in contact.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do herewith express to his beloved wife
and loved ones our deepest sympathy in this, their hour of bereavement, and
as a token of this expression the City Clerk is hereby instructed to record
this resolution in the usual manner and to see that a suitable copy is
presented to his family.
PASSED and UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED on this the 12th day of December, A. D.
