RESOLUTION NO. 7962
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CANVASSING THE
RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH
25, 1952.
WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns of the
Certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held and conducted the Special
Election held on March 25, 1952, such canvass having been made solely,
exclusively and entirely from such returns;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare that the total number of
votes cast in said election for the approval of the measures and the total
number of votes cast in said election against the approval of the measures
were as follows :
Upon the Question: "SHALL THE ORDINANCE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO.
1008, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON ITS '}HIRD AND FINAL
READING ON THE 16TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1952,
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 845 OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, " PROVIDING
FOR ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO EMPLOYEE MEMBERS
OF THE RETIREMENT AND PENSION SYSTEM FOR
EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, BE APPROVED OR
DISAPPROVED?" 2702 votes were cast, of which
1358 votes were "For the Ordinance ' and 1344
votes were "Against the Ordinance '' .
Upon the Question: "SHALL THE ORDINANCE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO.
1009, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON ITS THIRD AND FINAL
READING ON THE 6TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1952,
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF
EACH MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, " FIXING THE SALARY OF
EACH MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL AT $5,000.00
PER YEAR PAYABLE MONTHLY, BE APPROVED OR
DISAPPROVED?" 2558 votes were cast, of which
493 votes were "For the Ordinance " and 2065
votes were "Against the Ordinance" .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby declare that
the measure known as Ordinance No. 1008, passed and adopted on its third and
final reading on the 16th day of January, 1952, has been duly and legally
approved by the voters as provided by law; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby declare that the measure known
as Ordinance No. 1009, passed and adopted on its third and final reading on
the 6th day of February, 1952, has been disapproved by the voters .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 26th day of March, A. D. 1952.
