Resolution 8399 RESOLUTION NO. 8399 WHEREAS, we, the City Council of Miami Beach, take cognizance of the retirement of William Burbridge from active public life with the utmost reluctance and regret; and WHEREAS, we cannot allow his withdrawal to pass without mention of our gratitude for his wise and effective counsel as a Councilman of our City for twenty years; and WHEREAS, those of us who had the longest association with him, and those who joined us later, know that the City of Miami Beach as it is today is the outcome of a development made during his original tenure as City Councilman; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the City Council of Miami Beach, Florida, and the citizens of our community express our gratitude to William Burbridge for his many years of service to our City. Unassuming and imbued with a quiet strength based on ability and a fineness of feeling for his fellow man, he contributed much to our present civic eminence. We shall miss this modest citizen whose accomplishments will stand as a lasting testimonial of his service to Miami Beach -- William Burbridge. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and a copy be presented to William Burbridge as a tangible record of our sincere appreciation.
