BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.01.01.02
of Ordinance No. 845, the members of Group 1, as
specified in said Ordinance, are hereby classified and determined
as follows:

SECTION 2: That, whereas, the term of George W. Roberts, a Trustee
of the City of Miami 3each Employees Retirement System,
as provided by Ordinance No. $45, and representing employees in
Group 1, expires this year;
NOW, THER _FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, that a Primary and an Election are hereby
called for the purpose of electing a Trustee from Group 1, to succeed
George W. Roberts, to serve for a terra of three years, or until his
successor is duly elected and qualified, said Primary to be held
between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P;M. on Tuesday, August 18,
1953, and said Election to be held between the hours of 9:00 A.M.
and 5:00 P.M. ori Tuesday, August 25, 1953.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk be and he is Hereby instructed to
notify the members of Group 1 of said Primary and Election,
by posting a notice stating the time, place and purpose of said
Primary and. Election, in a conspicuous place in each department of
the City wherein members of Group 1 are employed.
SECTION L{-: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said
Primary and Election, the following members are hereby
appointed to serve as Clerk and Inspectors:
Clerk: Joseph Hovelsrud Inspectors: E. H. Nuce
James H. Ferrall
SECTION 5: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby ap3ointed as
Supervisor of said Primary and Election, acid is hereby
further instructed to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia
to the Inspectors and Clerk hereinabove appointed, to enaole them to
properly hold and conduct said Primary and Election; and
SECTION 6: That the two members receiving the highest number of votes
cast at the Primary on August 18 , 1953, shallbe the only
candidates for Trustee at the Election on Aubust 25, 1953, provided,
however, that should any member receive a majority of the votes cast
at the Primary, he will be thereby declaled elected as a Trustee
and the Election as herein planned be omitted.
SECTION 7 : That i ,mediately after the polls are closed in the
Primary and in the Election herein called, the Inspectors
and Clerk shall proceed to open the ballot box and count the ballots
cast, tabulating the result, and upon completion of said count they
shall promptly certify the result of said Primary or Election, as the
case may be, to the City Clerk in duplicate on forms to be supplied
them by the said City Clerk; and

SECTION 8: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to
present to the City Council, at their first meeting
following the holding of said Election, the Certificate of said
Inspectors and Clerk, as to the result of said Election, whereupon
this Body shall declare the Trustee elected as indicated in said
Certificate.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of August, A.D. 1953.
