Resolution 9037 RESOLUTION NO. 9037 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 7, 1955 . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That in accordance with the provisions of Section 40 of Chapter 7672, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1917 (the Charter of the City of Miami Beach, Florida) as amended by Senate Bill No . 190, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1955, a General Election is hereby directed to be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida at the polling places in the voting precincts as follows, to-wit : PRECINCT NO . 25-A: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the North line of the corporate limits of the City of Miami Beach ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 71st Street to the center line of Indian Creek; thence northerly along the center line of Indian Creek to the center line of Normandy Waterway; thence westerly along the center line of Normandy Waterway to Bis- cayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH SHORE PARK RECREATION CENTER BUILDING at 72nd Street and Byron Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 25-B: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of 1 Precinct No . 25-A ON THE NORTH and the center line of 51st Street ON THE SOUTH, the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69TH STREET FIRE STATION, situated at o86o Indian Creek Drive . PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 25-B ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence westerly along the center line of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situ- ated on the northeast corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 2o, ON THE NORTH, and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the center line of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place. of which shall be at the DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive . -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY-CITY BALL-MIAMI BEACH 99, FLORIDA I PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 27 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the center line of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the center line of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the east entrance of the MUNICIPAL OFFICE BUILD- ING at 17th Street and Drexel Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 29 : Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 28 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the center line of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at the FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the center line of Alton Road to oth Street, thence westerly along the center line of oth Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the OCEAN FRONT AUDITORIUM at 10th Street and Ocean Drive . PRECINCT NO. 31 : Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 30, ON THE NORTH and aline ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the south line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No . 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEM- ENTARY SCHOOL, situated between Third and Fourth Streets on Alton Road. PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No . 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH SHORE PARK RECREATION CENTER BUILDING on Biscayne Street at Biscayne Bay. SECTION 2: That all qualified electors shall vote at the polling places in the precincts in which the registration books of said City show that said electors reside . SECTION 3: That the City Clerk, who is also the Supervisor of Registration, open the books of said City from 9:00 o 'clock A.M. until 5:00 o 'clock P .M. , each day, Sundays and Holidays excepted, from April 21, 1955 to April 30, ✓ 1955, both inclusive, for the purpose of registering electors to vote in said General Election, and that after said April 30, 1955, no elector shall be registered for said election. -2- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY-CITY BALL- MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA SECTION 4: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish once each week for a period of four (4 ) consecutive weeks next preceding said General Election in the Florida Sun, a newspaper of general circulation, pub- ✓ lished in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a notice of said General Election and Registration in substantially the follow- ing form, to-wit : "NOTICE OF ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that by resolution duly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a General Election has been called and will be held V in the City of Miami Beach, Florida from 7:00 o ' clock A.M. until 7:00 o 'clock P.M. on June 7, 1955 at the polling places in the election precincts as follows, to-wit : PRECINCT NO. 25-A: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the North line of the corporate limits of the City of Miami Beach ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 71st Street to the center line of Indian Creek; thence northerly along the center line of Indian Creek to the center line of Normandy Waterway; thence westerly along the center line of Normandy Waterway to Bis- cayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH SHORE PARK RECREATION CENTER BUILDING at 72nd Street and Byron Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 25-B ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence westerly along the center line of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the northeast corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 26, ON THE NORTH, and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the center line of Dade Boulevard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the northwest corner of the intersection of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive . -3- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY-CITY HALL -MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 27 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the center line of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the center line of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the east entrance of the MUNICIPAL OFFICE BUILD- ING at 17th Street and Drexel Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 28 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the center line of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at the FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue . PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 29 ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the center line of Alton Road to nth Street, thence westerly along the center line of 0th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the OCEAN FRONT AUDITORIUM at 10th Street and Ocean Drive . PRECINCT NO. 31 : Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No . 30, ON THE NORTH and a line ON THE SOUTH running westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center line of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the south line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No . 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH BEACH ELEM- ENTARY SCHOOL, situated between Third and Fourth Streets on Alton Road. PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Pre- cinct No . 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands south of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at the SOUTH SHORE PARK RECREATION CENTER BUILD- ING on Biscayne Street at Biscayne Bay. at which election the qualified electors participating therein will vote for the election of four ( 4) Councilmen of the City of Miami Beach, Florida. The registration books of said City will be open from 9:00 o 'clock A.M. until 5:00 o 'clock P .M. , each day, Sundays and Holidays excepted, from April 21, 1955 to April 30, 1955, both inclusive, for the purpose of registering any person qualified to vote in said General Election. Only persons properly registered will be qualified to vote in said election. " SECTION 5: That the official ballot to be used in such y. General Election shall be in substantially the following form, to-wit : - T- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL -MIAMI REACH 39, FLORIDA "OFFICIAL BALLOT GENERAL ELECTION FOR ELECTING FOUR (14) COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA JUNE 7, 1955 • (Make a cross mark (X) before the names of thecandidates of your choice ) FOR CITY COUNCILMEN Vote for four (4 ) only : (Names of Candidates) The City Clerk shall prepare the ballot so that the names of qualified candidates will appear on said ballot in alpha- betical order according to surname; provided, however, that said ballot and its preparation shall be such as to permit compliance with the Laws of the State of Florida with respect to the use of mechanical voting machines .
