Design concepts presented to Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel on North Beach, the Facility Operator and the Bandshell
Committee. There was no consensus on the project scope and budget.
Coordination meetings with Facility Operator & other stakeholders were held to redefine project scope & budget
2016
Facility Operator solicits proposals from vendors for canopy and audio visual upgrades and coordinates desired project
scope with the City.
2017
Facility Operator provided proposal from canopy manufacturer to City
Negotiated with multiple consultants to provide services to include the desired canopy manufacturer and their concept
FCWPC recommended the additional requested $443K for the canopy project (Total Budget $668K)
Coordination on procuring the canopy manufacturer recommended by the Facility Operator. Potential sole sourcing
scenario.
2018
Design -Build procurement process was selected to accelerate delivery of project (performance criteria). Douglas Wood
retained to prepare Design Criteria Package.

West Avenue Pedestrian Bridge
2015
December City Commission approved the issuance to advertise the West Avenue Bridge Project as a Design Build Procurement
method.
2016
January — April Advertised the project with only one contractor bidding the project. Commission directed staff to negotiate the original bid
and City Commission awarded the successful negation with Bergeron Land Development.
June Executed the Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) between the City and Miami Dade County (MDC) to fund the West
Avenue Bridge Project & Executed the contract with Bergeron.
July Issued notice to proceed to start the design build contract. Substantial completion for the project was dependent on
obtaining all permits, including the all environmental and MDC Public Works permits & started the design phase. 180
calendar days to complete.
August Applied for all permits: DERM Class I, DERM Class II, MDC Public Works Permit. It took approximately 90 days to obtain
DERM permits. It took 470 calendar days to obtain the MDC PW Permit.
2017
January Obtained DERM Class II Permit and also finalized the design plans & started the construction of Dade Boulevard. 180
calendar days to finish. Work included the reconstruction of Dade Boulevard from the Venetian Causeway to Alton Road;
raising the road; drainage, utility conflicts, signalization, lighting, signing and marking and constructing a vehicular new
bridge across Collins Canal.
March Held the first public meeting to get public input on the bridge aesthetics & started the construction of the West Avenue
Bridge and pedestrian bridge substructure. 180 calendar days to finish.
June Held the second public meeting depicting input from public on the first public meeting.
July Completed the Dade Boulevard portion of the road and with the exception of the lighting, signal, signing and traffic
markings because the MDC PW permit had not been obtained.
August Completed the construction of the West Avenue Bridge.
November - December Received MDC PW Permit & Continued working on Dade Boulevard signals, signing and markings and lighting.
2018
January Substantially completed the road and bridge work.
May —July Held the third public meeting to discuss aesthetics of the pedestrian bridge & started design the pedestrian bridge.
October — November Design Review Board presentation of the pedestrian bridge panels and pedestrian railings & pedestrian bridge
fabrication if approved by DRB.
November — December Pedestrian bridge fabrication if approved by DRB.
