Resolution 9258 RESOLUTION NO. 9258 WHEREAS Section 4, Chapter 18696, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1937, as amended by Chapter 30987, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1955, commonly known as the Civil Service Act of the City of Miami Beach, provides in part as follows : "Any employee member of the Personnel Board may be removed if at least twenty-five percent (25%) of the total employee members of his group shall sign a petition for an election to determine whether or not such employee member should be removed and the petition is presented to the City Clerk, who shall thereupon conduct and supervise such election, and a majority of the members of the group voting at such election shall vote to remove such employee member. " and WHEREAS George Edward Bond is the duly elected Employee Member of the Personnel Board, representing Group 3 of the employees of the City of Miami Beach, and WHEREAS there has been presented to the City Clerk a petition signed by at least 25% of the total Employee Members of said Group 3 requesting that an election be called and held to determine whether or not said Employee Member shall be removed, and WHEREAS it is therefore the duty of the City Council to call such election, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA; that an election is hereby called for the purpose of determining whether or not said Employee Member shall be removed, said election to be held between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P .M. on Tuesday, May 15th, 1956, and that the place of said election shall be the office of the City Timekeeper, 156 Alton Road, Miami Beach, Florida . SECTION 1 : That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to notify the members of Group 3 of the said election by posting notices stating the time, place and purpose of same, in a conspicuous place in each and every department of the City wherein members of Group 3 are employed. SECTION 2: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said election, the City Clerk is hereby authorized to appoint three (3) employees to serve as Inspectors . SECTION 3: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby appointed as Supervisor of said election, and is hereby further instructed to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia to the Inspectors, to enable them to properly hold and conduct said election. -1- OFFICE OF CITY ATTORNEY - CITY HALL - MIAMI BEACH 39, FLORIDA SECTION 4: That immediately after the polls are closed in the election herein called, the Inspectors shall proceed to open the ballot box and count the ballots cast, tabulating the result, and upon completion of said count they shall promptly certify the result of said election, to the City Clerk in duplicate, on forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk. SECTION 5: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to present to the City Council, at their first meeting following the holding of said election, the Certificates of the Inspectors as to the result of said election, whereupon this Body shall canvass said certificates and declare the result .
