RESOLUTION NO. 9295
PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF A REGULAR
EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS A
MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE
RETIREMENT AND PENSION SYSTEM REPRESENTING
GROUP ONE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 18691, Laws of Florida,
Acts of 1937, as amended, and Ordinance No. 845 enacted pursuant thereto,
it is provided that there shall be three employees of regular status
elected to the Board of Trustees of the City of Miami Beach Employees
Retirement System, and
WHEREAS the term of office of the Trustee of the City of Miami Beach
Employees Retirement System, representing Group 1 of employees, expires
August 31, 1956;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, as follows :
SECTION 1 : That a Primary and an Election are hereby called for the
purpose of electing a Trustee from Group 1 to serve for a
term of three years, said Primary to be held between the hours of 9:00 A.M.
and 5 :00 P.M. , on Tuesday, July 24, 1956, and said Election to be held
between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5 :00 P.M. , on Tuesday, July 31, 1956.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to notify
the members of Group 1 of said Primary and Election by posting
a notice stating the time, place and purpose of said Primary and Election,
in a conspicuous place in each department of the City wherein members of
Group 1 are employed.
SECTION 3: That for the purpose of holding and conducting said Primary
and Election, the City Clerk is hereby authorized to appoint
three (3) employees to serve as Clerk and Inspectors .
SECTION 4: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby appointed as Supervisor
of said Primary and Election, and is hereby further instructed
to provide ballots and all necessary paraphernalia to the Inspectors and
1 Clerk herein, to enable them to properly hold and condut said Primary and
Election.
SECTION 5 : That the two (2) members receiving the highest number of votes
Icast at the Primary on July 24, 1956, shall be the only candi-
dates for Trustee at the Election on July 31, 1956, provided, however, that
should any member receive a majority of the votes cast at the Primary, he
will be thereby declared elected as a Trustee and the Election as herein
planned be omitted.
I SECTION 6: That immediately after the polls are closed in the Primary and
in the Election herein called, the Inspectors and Clerk shall
proceed to open the ballot box and count the ballots cast, tabulating the
result, and upon completion of said count they shall promptly certify the re-
sult of said Primary or Election, as the case may be, to the City Clerk
in duplicate, on forms to be supplied them by the said City Clerk.
SECTION 7 : That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to present to
the City Council, at their first meeting following the holding
of said Election, the Certificate of said Inspectors and Clerk, as to the
result of said Election, whereupon this Body shall declare the Trustee
effected as indicated in said certificate .
