Resolution 9523 RESOLUTION NO . 9523
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, on the 2nd day of May, 1951, adopted a resolution
authorizing the issuance of negotiable coupon bonds of the City
of Miami Beach, in the amount of $130, 000.00, for the purpose
of constructing a fire station, subject to the authorization
of the duly registered and qualified voters of the said City,
who were freeholders therein, participating in a special
election to be held on June 5th, 1951; and
WHEREAS, the said special election was held on June 5,
1951, and at said election, the issuance of said bonds
was authorized as required by law; and
WHEREAS, on June 13, 1951, by Resolution No. 7659,
the City Council, having determined the result of said election,
authorized the issuance of said bonds and instructed the City
Attorney to institute validation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, thereafter, the said bonds were validated
by a decree of the Circuit Court in and for Dade County, Florida,
but have never been issued or sold; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida deems it to be to the best interest of said City to
refrain from issuing said bonds heretofore authorized as
aforesaid, it being deemed by said City Council to be inadvisable
to construct the fire station as contemplated at the time of
the adoption of the resolutions hereinbefore referred to;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the bonds, in the
amount of $130,000.00, heretofore authorized by Resolution
No. 7659 of said City, passed and adopted on the 13th day of
June, 1951 for issuance for the purpose of constructing a
fire station, be and they are hereby cancelled.
