Resolution 9619 RESOLUTION NO. 9619 WHEREAS application has been made to the Department of the Army by one William Bennett for the anchoring of a barge in Biscayne Bay at the point of convergement of the Fisher Island and Main Ship Channels for the sale of bait to fishermen, and WHEREAS the Miami Beach Marine Board, an official board 1 of the City of Miami Beach, has investigated the merits of said proposal, particularly from the standpoint of the interference therewith with navigation, and has duly found and determined that numerous small craft would converge upon such operation and thereby create serious problems of boat congestion, which coupled with conditions of tide and wind, would create an undue and needless hazard to the safety of marine craft with resultant hazards and dangers to life, limb and property, and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach is familiar with the facts and circumstances upon which the aforesaid finding and determination of the Miami Beach Marine Board have been based, and is fully and completely in accord therewith, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that it is opposed to the favorable consideration of the aforesaid application, the same being File No. SAKSP-800.61 (57-452) of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and respectfully requests that the United States Army Corps of Engineers deny the said application, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to the United States Army Engineers District, Jacksonville, Florida, Corps of Engineers.
