Resolution 9619 RESOLUTION NO. 9619
WHEREAS application has been made to the Department
of the Army by one William Bennett for the anchoring of a barge
in Biscayne Bay at the point of convergement of the Fisher
Island and Main Ship Channels for the sale of bait to fishermen,
and
WHEREAS the Miami Beach Marine Board, an official board
1 of the City of Miami Beach, has investigated the merits of said
proposal, particularly from the standpoint of the interference
therewith with navigation, and has duly found and determined
that numerous small craft would converge upon such operation
and thereby create serious problems of boat congestion, which
coupled with conditions of tide and wind, would create an undue
and needless hazard to the safety of marine craft with resultant
hazards and dangers to life, limb and property, and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach is
familiar with the facts and circumstances upon which the
aforesaid finding and determination of the Miami Beach Marine
Board have been based, and is fully and completely in accord
therewith,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that it is opposed to the favorable
consideration of the aforesaid application, the same being
File No. SAKSP-800.61 (57-452) of the United States Army Corps
of Engineers, and respectfully requests that the United States
Army Corps of Engineers deny the said application, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of
this resolution be transmitted to the United States Army
