On Friday, October 26, 2018, the City of Miami Beach Art in Public Places Program,
along with the New World Symphony, will open a permanent, site specific audio and
visual project by American composer and media artist Bill Fontana. Using sound as
a sculptural medium, the audio work was recorded in and around Miami Beach and
captures the sounds of ocean waves, mocking birds and even the underground
gurgling of water pushing through Miami Beach pump stations.
• DECEMBER 4, 2018, 3PM- Franz Ackermann, SE Corner of Miami Beach
Convention Center
On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, the City of Miami Beach Art in Public Places
program will unveil its first work for the new Miami Beach Convention Center, Franz
Ackermann's About Sand. This dynamic, hand-painted mural is emblematic of
Miami Beach's multiculturalism, international tourism and global urbanism.
Art in Public Places staff continues to meet with the Miami Beach Convention Center

and Dragset (Convention Center Park), Joep van Lieshout (Collins Canal Park) and Sarah
Morris (Northeast Exterior Walls) are being scheduled for installation as the spaces
become available for the artists to install their works. The following reflects a working
