Resolution 9787 RESOLUTION NO. 9787
WHEREAS the Civil Aeronautics Board has determined to consider
whether public convenience and necessity require or warrant authori-
zation for the establishment of direct, one-carrier air service
between points in the State of Florida and points in the State of
California via points in the States of Louisiana and Texas and
possibly other intermediate points, and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
is fully cognizant and keenly conscious of the urgent and imperative
necessity for the establishment of new and improved air service to
and from Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS the establishment of direct one-carrier air service to
and from points in California, Texas, Louisiana and other points
to the west would not only provide a transportation service greatly
needed by the residents of the City of Miami Beach, but would also
be of manifestly substantial benefit to the economic interests and
welfare of the City of Miami Beach, as well as Dade County, Florida, and
WHEREAS the requirements of Miami Beach for air service are great
and the business of Miami Beach is directly dependent upon the best
possible air transportation and it will be to the best interests of
Miami Beach to have the new one-carrier service to and from the
west performed by the carrier best able to provide maximum public
benefits over the new air route,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Civil Aeronautics Board
be advised of the foregoing determinations of the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, that the said Civil Aeronautics Board be
urged to find and determine that the public convenience and necessity
require the establishment of the service hereinabove described, to
find that the carrier best able to provide maximum public benefits
be authorized to operate the new route, and to find that the new
service be established as soon as possible, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk transmit a duly
certified copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Spessard L. Holland,
the Honorable George A. Smathers, United States Senators of the
State of Florida, the Honorable Dante B. Fascell, Congressman of
the Fourth Congressional District of the State of Florid. to the
Civil Aeronautics Board, and to othillterested persons.
