RESOLUTION NO. 10038
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSAL THAT 36TH
STREET CAUSEWAY BE NAMED AND DESIGNATED
AS "THE JULIA TUTTLE CAUSEWAY", AND URGING
THAT APPROPRIATE ACTION BE TAKEN TO ACCOM-
PLISH SUCH PROPOSAL.
WHEREAS, the Miami Women's Club is the sponsor and
advocate of the proposal that the 36th Street Causeway pres-
ently under construction across Biscayne Bay between Miami
and Miami Beach be permanently named and designated as "The
Julia Tuttle Causeway", and many other outstanding civic
organizations and citizens of Metropolitan Dade County
have joined in support of such proposal; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach deems it most appropriate, fitting and proper that
the name and memory of Mrs . Julia Tuttle, one of the dis-
tinguished founders of this great metropolitan area, be
recognized and remembered by a lasting tribute,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it does hereby
wholeheartedly endorse the proposal that the 36th Street
Causeway be named and designated as "The Julia Tuttle
Causeway",
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State Legislature
and that the State Road Department be and they are hereby
respectfully urged to take appropriate action for the
immediate accomplishment of this project .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is
hereby directed to transmit duly certified copies of this
Resolution to the Miami Women's Club, the Honorable
LeRoy Collins, Governor of the State of Florida, the
Honorable William D. Singer, member, State Road Department,
and each member of the Dade County Legislative Delegation.
