Resolution 10088 RESOLUTION NO. 10088
WHEREAS the causeway connecting 36th Street in the
City of Miami and 41st Street in the City of Miami Beach is
scheduled for completion on or about January, 1960, and
WHEREAS the construction of said causeway was
impelled by the Imperative needs of the entire County and State
as a part of the Interstate Highway System, and
WHEREAS Alton Road is an essential and integral
component of said causeway and will carry the major portion of
traffic entering and leaving the City of Miami Beach via said
causeway, and
WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing Alton Road will be
entirely inadequate for said purposes, and must, of necessity,
be widened, paved and otherwise improved, and
WHEREAS it would be inequitable for the taxpayers of
the City of Miami Beach to assume the burden of the cost of an
improvement designed and intended for the benefit of the entire
County, State, and Interstate Highway System,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Dade County
Commission be and it is hereby requested and urged to widen
and repave Alton Road from Biscayne Waterway to 63rd Street,
including the bridging of Surprise Waterway, and to commence
work thereon with all due speed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk transmit
certified copies hereof to each member of the Dade County
Commission.
